Task 2

  • What is the nightlife like in this city?

London is world-famous for its non-stop party life and late night bars and clubs. Nightlife areas in London aren’t difficult to find, because there are many, everywhere. Thousands of bars, clubs, lounges, and live music venues are all over the city. There is one last thing to mention regarding pubs: If you want a drink or something to eat you have to order it at the bar, pubs do not offer table service.

  • What are some of the most important tourist locations?
Situated on the banks of the River Thames, the London Eye is an enormous, 135 meter high observation wheel carrying 32 exterior glass-walled capsules. It offers fantastic views over central London. The wheel does not usually stop to take on passengers as the rotation rate is slow enough to allow passengers to walk on and off the moving capsules at ground level. It is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom, visited by many people of the world.

  • What are some traditions in this city?
Well dressing  is a summer custom practised in rural England in which wellssprings or other water sources are decorated with designs created from flower petals. The custom is most closely associated with the Peak District of Derbyshire

  • How expensive is it to live there? What is the cost of living?
Living in the UK – particularly London,  – is expensive compared to many places in the World. The cost of living will of course depend on the individual situation and the taste of each individual, but you still need to be prepared financially. Just because you’ve been working hard to save many thousands of your own currency. This city with the best transport, clothes and food , make to be one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Task 1

Day 10 in London:

It's September 17 and we got up early to make breakfast in the knowledge that it was our last day in London and we should make the most. We were granted time to know the nonprofit attractions of the English capital to our liking. Several groups of students determined to visit several places including Madame Tussauds, Camden Town, football stadiums, and many others were formed. We had from 10am until about 6 pm and then go to a famous play. In the large time we had to visit this wonderful city with all its attractions, I found very welcoming, despite being the city in the world with more immigrants and people of different races.

As for the differences between my country Chile and London, are very large, London as a city of over 8 million inhabitants, is considered as a developed city in terms of technology, buildings, transport and food from all over the world . Instead Chile a small developing country with many financial problems but with many attractions like London.

To end the day, we had the opportunity to appreciate generation together as the famous play The Phantom of the Opera, which was splendid. And then go to the hotel very tired to sleep because the next day was very long. We all had a good behavior, unlike refused departure next day and nobody wanted that.

Photo Description

Description picture 3:

In the third picture as you can see many people are protesting against the film " The Last Temptation of Christ". A person has a sign saying " Don't destroy history ", this person says this because the people want to ban the film for the controversial subject matter and is labeled as blasphemous. Other person said in a sign "Offensive to Christians" maybe the people said this because many countries and the Bible are against of what they are showing because said things of Jesus that are not really and the Bible has banned, the Bible doesn't accept this because this is a bibliography of Jesus. These people are protesting outside maybe of an important cinema and their proposal is that the film doesn't begin. These film show things like the crucified of Jesus and a posible wedding of him. This is the most important reason of the anger of the people and the world.

TATTOOS-WORK

a. What is the key issue that the photo shows?

The key issue in this photo is that the tattoos can mae the difference in life's people, in the photo explain that in the daily lives he can use the tattoo normal and walk like a normal person. But he need to transform her life in the job need to hide the tattoo to work undisturbed to avoid being dismissed.

b. How are tattoos stereotyped in different societies? Refer to The Maori culture (New Zealand), USA and Chile.

The Maori tribe in New Zealand used the tattoos to scare the enemy and in signal of respect, the person that have more tattos it means that have more experience than the other of his culture, they start tattoing the childrens at 8 years old and they modified, as you have more experience and more power in the tribe. Refer to Chile the tattoos mean a lot in life of the people, which affects their day to day, because here are very racist and someone to have some tattoo related will be poor or to belong to lower social classes.

c. How important or relevant are tattoos for some people in defining their individuality or identity?

For some people the tattoos refer to a identity for some social class, ethnic groups or musical groups. For instance people who listen music like rap or hip hop it is necessary to have a tattoo or do graffitis or something that is traditional  for the group. Otherwise if people not do this things can lead to expulsion.

d. Why are tattoos considered / not considered Art?

Art is a way of expressing your feelings, and tattoos are considered art, because it express what you feel, it is a way of expressing feelings. But there are cases in which a tattoo is used for different purposes, such as to identify prisoners in the prisons, or to identify football teams, in this case, a tattoo we could not consider it art.

In conclusion the photo shows the differences that people have to do having a tattoo, like stop being like them to become other people and go undetected tattoos in his job or place that not allow tattoos.
